If your lucky enough to be a Gold Coast local then I'm sure you are also lucky enough to be a regular at The Village Markets. These Burleigh Heads & Paradise Point Sunday markets are jam packed full of local handmade wares, talented muso's, delicious foods and fabulous fashion. We chat with co-owner Marissa to find out more about this local treasure she has been running since 2008.
How did the idea come about?
We felt there was a gap in the Gold Coast market for a fashion, vintage and creative market that could become a regular cultural event for locals and visitors to enjoy, including boutique lineup of quality market stalls, food, live music and a great positive community vibe. A large focus of TVM is supporting emerging local small businesses and we do this on event day as well as online, which has always been very unique to our event. We have backgrounds in marketing and events for some prominent companies so our passion coupled with our combined experience, held us in good stead to get started.
Do you have a particular criteria for stalls you select?
We definitely do. We differentiate ourselves from other markets by focusing on emerging fashion, vintage, homewares, unique art, and creative unique lifestyle labels as well as a handful of local pop-up shops.
Where do you draw your inspiration from to keep your markets fresh and creative?
Being innovative is definitely at the forefront for us, and our marketing experience plays a big part in this. We’re always inspired by all of the creative talent that is part of the TVM stallholder community, they really are an amazing bunch!
What install for the future of TVM? Many things, it’s exciting times indeed!
